Lay Servants: Non-clergy in ministry as disciples of Jesus Christ. Lay Servants attend training courses in preparation for determining their gifts, calling, and responsibilities.
Lay Servants lead worship at 'New Perspective' Senior Living Community in Brown Deer on the 4th Sunday of the month. Beginning in August 2018: there will be a service at 2pm in their memory unit and another service at 3:30pm for others in the community. Not meeting due to the pandemic
At Brown Deer United Methodist Church, Lay Servants continue to be engaged in acts of leading, caring, and communicating. Throughout the church you'll find Lay Servants serving as liturgist, preaching the word, serving as group leaders, teachers, members of the church council and various committees, authors of newsletter articles, testifying and responding about faith and faith issues, speaking out and teaching about social issues, etc. Some have shared their gifts with neighboring churches, and have participated in district gathering and community events where their voices and actions call for justice and a call to community. Some are engaged in face-to-face ministries such as tutoring and mentoring, while others are engaged in hand-on ministry at food and clothing banks.
